Before we move forward to 2025, let’s take a look at the albums, EPs, and mixtapes released in 2024.
2024 has come and gone and what an incredible time it was. Aside from the numerous instant classic battles, our local acts have also given us great music to vibe to. It once again showed everyone (especially the doubters) how strong and constantly evolving Philippine hip-hop is. The new fans keep coming while the day ones continue showing their support. There’s no denying that the scene is not slowing down at all.
Before we officially move forward to 2025, let’s take a look at the albums, mixtapes, and EPs that came out in 2024. Each one has a distinct flavor and highlights the biggest strengths of these artists. The entries are listed in no particular order, so there is no need to argue online about the rankings. Let’s start!
Bugoy na Koykoy x YB NEET – “Training Day”
Bugoy na Koykoy teams up with YB NEET in a mentor and apprentice scenario. “Training Day” sees the two rappers exchanging catchy rhymes and displaying their swag throughout. The album’s laidback beats perfectly suit the lyrics which are about hustling and street life.
“Basta Kasama” is the solo EP of Onaks. The Cainta emcee put a spotlight not only on his remarkable flow and rhyme schemes but also on his versatility in songwriting. “Basta Kasama” is proof of Onaks’ overall improvement and passion for hip-hop.
In “WA$$UP”, A$tro tells us more stories about life in the streets and the local scene. His creative pen game and chill delivery continue to shine, complementing the diverse selection of beats. “WA$$UP” also has an impressive lineup of guests, all of which fit perfectly into the album’s vision.
Nik Makino once again showcased his skills in crafting catchy tunes in “Meta”. The mixtape features his trademark blend of rap and R&B as well as his innovative concepts. Musically, the beats of “Meta” are sure to hype the party up.
“Apoy” is the debut solo EP of battle emcee JR Zero. Staying true to its title, the project sees the 3 Digitz representative spitting fire on solid boom bap and trap beats. Apart from his multis, metaphors, and flow, JR’s storytelling also shined here.
Formed in mid-2022, Gramofön is a band comprising of DJ Arthug (RIP) on turntables, Batas on bass, and Apo Lerma on the SP 555. On April 23, they released their album titled “G.R.A.M.”. The album is a clever mix of various musical styles with a hip-hop flavor.

“Taon Ng Dragon” is the latest solo record of underground veteran Zargon. The album highlights Zargon’s trademark gangsta rap, unleashing confrontational rhymes on hard-hitting beats. “Taon Ng Dragon” also surprised fans with its guest artists, all of which gave their A-game.
Flict-G’s much-awaited solo LP “Kuwento” came out on September 26. Aside from the rapper’s remarkable flow and rhyme schemes, this album also put a spotlight to his impressive storytelling and production skills. “Kuwento” is indeed a testament to Flict-G’s artistic growth.

He’s inactive in battle rap now, but Kris Delano is still making an impact in music. On September 6, he finally released his solo album titled “Yours Truly”. It’s a wonderful mix of rap and R&B, and Kris candidly talks about his experience in a toxic relationship.
“Martial Lao” is the debut album of emcee Don Pao. It was released on the 21st of September under Rawstarr Records. Here, Don Pao showcases his impeccable rhyming style and wordplay while keeping his gangsta rap attitude intact.
“Dirty South Swagga” is the second solo EP of Las Pinas’ Willa. The 5-track project is a flawless blend of modern and traditional hip-hop, both lyrically and musically. Willa spits impeccable street rhymes on head-nodding beats, showing no dull moment up to the last song.
Jon Protege, who was known simply as Protege in the battle arena, finally released his solo album “Favorite Life” on October 30th. The legendary English Conference emcee abandoned the braggadocio style and instead focused on sharing heartfelt thoughts. It’s a personal record that he also mixed, produced, and mastered.
“Go See God” is Sica’s second full-length album. The LP has a more grounded approach, with Sica creatively reflecting on his life journey. His combination of melodic and traditional rapping stays effective, and the chill beats fit well with his style.
L.EYE finally released her debut LP “Awakening” on December 21. The Bicolana emcee shares her introspective thoughts using her excellent English and Tagalog rhymes and smooth delivery. KMG produced the beats, giving that golden age hip-hop vibe.
“idk” is the sophomore album of JRLDM. The emcee from Mariveles tackles personal struggles while making sure not to give up hope. “idk” once again showcases JRLDM’s effortless mix of singing, rapping, and painting vivid imagery.
