This solid FlipTop fan shares his Second Sight 10 journey.
It was early 2022. We finally saw the easing of pandemic restrictions. We’re on our way back to normalcy after two years of feeling the wrath of COVID. As a true fan of FlipTop who has attended numerous shows, I couldn’t wait to see the emcees in action live again. So when the league announced on Facebook that they were bringing back crowds, I literally jumped with joy and invited my friends. We bought our tickets the day after the announcement. The FlipTop Festival was the last event we attended and the impact of the virus had us thinking we would never go back to normal. Second Sight 10 was one of the things that brought back our hope for the better.
We will never forget the feeling of stepping foot inside the beloved Tiu Theater after three years. It was like experiencing a FlipTop event for the first time again. Seeing the emcees in person got us starstruck and we interacted with as many fans as we could. Everyone was united that night. We all just want to enjoy the event. We deserve this! Anygma went on stage and it was official, we are already part of history.
Second Sight 10, for us, is one of the best events of 2022. Not only because it’s the first post-pandemic event but every battle and every emcee brought it. Onaks vs One Lie Ace was a great opener, with the two emcees displaying their well-rounded styles throughout. Bagsik vs Prince Rhyme is the definition of an entertaining match. They gave us quality humor and some hard-hitting personals. Batang Rebelde vs MastaFeat also featured witty comedy with innovative angles and references. JDee vs Zaki was a great showcase of technical lyricism and raw aggression. It was a heated match and arguably the battle of the night.
There wasn’t a dull moment at the Poison13 and SlockOne battle. Apart from the remarkable pen game, both rappers also entertained us with some creative schemes and concepts. Harlem vs C-Quence was a perfect mix of top-notch lyricism and rhyming. Both are so strong with their material that the deciding factor was who had the more effective stage presence. Zaito vs Luxuria was the main event of the evening and they didn’t disappoint. Zaito brought his trademark unique humor while Luxuria delivered clever jokes and heavy bars.
All in all, Second Sight 10 had everything a battle rap fan wants. I believe it’s also the first event that finished early compared to the pre-pandemic affairs. Since then, FlipTop events usually end around 12 to 12:30 AM and it’s a good thing, especially for fans who live far away from the venue. It also gives us more time to interact with the emcees and fellow fans, buy merch, and enjoy the food and drinks. Second Sight 10 will remain a historic night and a symbol of hope during a very difficult time. We will definitely see you all on the next one. As for the exact date and venue, we have no idea yet. Let’s just wait for announcements on FlipTop’s official Facebook page. Did you attend Second Sight 10 too? Feel free to share your stories in the comments section!
