Since 2010, FlipTop has dominated the world of YouTube, with its videos often being the most viewed in the platform. It started with 50 to 100,000 and only took a matter of months before several battles garnered over a million views. Fast forward to the present, the numbers stay consistent, and most uploads are in the trending category. If anyone says the league is in its last days, they're lying.

However, today, we’re going to talk about the overlooked ones. With its extensive library, there will always be a few that will go unnoticed by the general fanbase, despite their great showing. Hopefully, this piece will help them get more recognition. Here are recent FlipTop battles below 500,000 views that deserve to be seen by more fans. I’ve decided to list matchups from 2023 to Gubat 13. Lastly, the entries are listed in no particular order.

Zend Luke vs Gameboy

Zend Luke vs Gameboy from Pakusganay 7 was a masterful style clash. Both emcees were able to represent their respective techniques flawlessly. Gameboy went all out with his creative comedy while Zend Luke left the crowd in awe using his leftfield pen game. They also showed confidence throughout and never had a dull moment.

Plaridhel vs Bagik

Another battle that took place at Pakusganay 7. Plaridhel vs Bagsik was a hard-hitting lyrical showdown. Bagsik delivered his trademark personal bars with a mix of technical lyricism. Plaridhel unleashed his intricate schemes and angles while adding more aggression to his delivery. Despite Bagsik’s minor stumbles, the battle still delivered when it comes to quality content.

Vitrum vs Ruffian

Vitrum vs Ruffian at Bwelta Balentong 10 was a back-and-forth brawl from start to finish. Both emcees went in with a strong stage presence and top-notch material. Vitrum surprised us with his innovative dark comedy combined with his signature sociopolitical schemes. Ruffian rocked the crowd once again with his pen game: a perfect blend of technical and street.

Mimack vs Deadline

One of Gubat 13’s underrated gems. Mimack vs Deadline was an excellent showcase of well-rounded lyricism. The two emcees gave us creative jokes and heavy punches with a much improved delivery and stage presence. It was such a back-and-forth match that the majority of fans who watched live consider it the battle of the night.

Onaks vs Kenzer

Onaks vs Kenzer at Ahon 14 deserves more appreciation from fans. The battle featured not only clever jokes and hard punchlines but also intricate rhyming and flawless delivery. Both rappers stepped up in content and performance, making it one of the most entertaining matchups of Ahon 14. You will definitely be surprised when you check it out.

Marshall Bonifacio vs Vitrum

Marshall Bonifacio vs Vitrum took place at Second Sight 12 and it was for the first round of the 2024 Isabuhay Tournament. The two emcees gave a master class in technical writing, witty comedy, and sociopolitical concepts. Their intensity on stage is also at the highest level. The battle was so great live that Marshall’s stumble didn’t hinder the whole experience.

CNine vs Karisma

Another highly entertaining match from Ahon 14 that surprisingly has only 486,523 views so far. CNine Vs Karisma is a battle filled with innovative antics, witty jokes, and hard-hitting lines. Their performance also oozes confidence up to the last second. If you want to see the perfect example of a back-and-forth battle, this is for you.

Deadline vs Crypto

Gubat 12 was a historic event because aside from the big-name battles, we also saw the future of FlipTop’s Visayas Division. Deadline and Crypto made the crowd go wild with their performance but on video, the battle currently has only 146,780 views. It certainly deserves more because it’s a great example of effective well-roundedness and the rhyme schemes are flawlessly executed.

Murdz vs Nathan

Murdz vs Nathan is another epic showdown from Gubat 13. This style clash showed Murdz with his complex schemes and references taking on Nathan’s heavy and more direct punches. The match also deserves appreciation for the vast improvement of the emcees in their performance. You could see that they’re now in full battle mode on stage.

All Won Minutes

It’s a cliché at this point but it stays true: FlipTop’s future is looking very bright. The previous Won Minutes events (Luzon and Visayas) are proof of this. Every battle, even the one-sided bouts, has replay value and showcases a distinct style. Give it a shot. You will surely find a new favorite in one of the videos.

This is just my personal opinion so if you don’t agree with me, no need to trash talk. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section. Obviously, there are plenty more underrated FlipTop battles reaching up to its inaugural year. Maybe I can write about them too if the league asks me again. For now, let’s enjoy these matches and continue to support the older ones. I’ll see you all on the next event. FlipTop, make some noise!
