2025 is already a great year so far for the Philippine hip-hop scene. We’ve heard plenty of potential classics from our local artists, and the battle rap scene is very much alive. The first FlipTop event of the year will take place on the 29th of March, and while we wait, let’s focus on the music side of things for now. For the new fans of the league, you’d probably think that the FlipTop emcees are just chilling when they’re not battling, but that’s not the case. The majority of these battle rappers are equally serious when it comes to making songs.

Here are the latest albums and EPs from your favorite FlipTop emcees. Check them out if you haven’t yet and just like their battles, be amazed by their overall creativity. Please inform us in the comments section if there’s something missing from this list. If there is, we would like to apologize in advance!

Ginoong Rodriguez (aka Batas) – “44thComing”

Batas made his return to music earlier this year with the release of his EP “44thComing”. The two-time Isabuhay Champion changed his moniker to Ginoong Rodriguez, which signifies a change of his overall musical direction. Here, instead of the usual hardcore bangers, Ginoong Rodriguez raps about finally living a life of contentment after going through struggles. Despite the shift of style, the impressive lyricism and flow remain intact.

Sayadd – “Siya”

“Siya” is the much-awaited solo project of Sayadd. Released on the 18th of January 2025, “Siya” takes us on a first-class trip into the complex mind of one of FlipTop’s most complex emcees. His trademark voice continues to be fascinating and sinister at the same time. Concept-wise, “Siya” features remarkable imagery, and the atmosphere is sinister throughout. It’s the type of EP that only Sayadd could put out.

Goriong Talas – “Limahid”

FlipTop’s inaugural Process of Illumination Champion and 2021 Isabuhay Finalist Goriong Talas has finally released his debut solo EP titled “Limahid”. He once again showcased his hard-hitting style with his rapid-fire flow, intricate rhyme schemes, and raw aggression. “Limahid” also features storytelling tracks that are sure to keep you hooked until the end. Without a doubt, the EP is proof of the emcee’s unmatched creativity.

Yuniko – “Buti Nalang”

While he’s mostly aggressive in his battles, Yuniko decided to show a different side of himself in his debut solo album “Buti Nalang”. The record has a feel-good vibe musically, and the lyrics focus on taking it easy and enjoying the simple things in life. Yuniko’s chill vibe remains effective, thanks to his captivating rhyme schemes and imagery. It’s uplifting and lyrical at the same time.

EJ Power – “To The 1st Power”

“To The 1st Power” is the much-awaited debut album of EJ Power. Just like his battles, EJ Power shows his creativity in a variety of concepts and his impressive technical lyricism. One thing in “To The 1st Power” that we don’t see in his FlipTop matches is his singing, which is as captivating as his rapping. The album offers a more up-close look at EJ Power’s unfiltered thoughts.
